Hello Community,
We are the Equinox Holistic Alternative School Identity Committee. We exist to develop, guide and facilitate the process that results in the timely delivery of the key identity elements and design standards for the graphical representation of our school.
This process will be as inclusive as possible, involving children, staff, parents and to ensure that the process “builds spirit and sense of communityâ€.
The mandate of the working Group is not to create or choose the identity elements, the community will.
We will start with the Logotype. Attached you’ll find a Creative Brief and a Graphic Organizer that you can print, use and submit to the committee providing your ideas and visual artistic representation.

Creative Brief
Communicate in a simple, direct and visual manner the school name Equinox and “link†it to our values and vision of Holistic education.
1. The Idea:
EHAS believes in a BALANCED education engaging the kid’s mind, heart, body and soul in the learning process. A Balanced Duality that embraces OPPOSITES, the two sides of the same coin, fifty-fifty, left brain-right brain, day and night, black and white, masculine and feminine, yin and yang …
All based on our name, Equinox: Latin for Equal Night. The only two days of the year (March 20th-21st and September 22nd-23rd) where days and nights are EQUALLY long and the sun sets exactly vertically over the Equator.
2. Looks and Art:
We’ll use a simple, kid-like, fun and playful, natural, clean, positive, welcoming and inclusive tone of voice. Also, a natural, basic palette and a simple, accessible but distinctive font, etc.
3. Deadline:
All the ideas and artistic work has to be submitted by Monday, May the 9th. Please, don’t be late since there will be a lot of work to do afterwards.
4. The Graphic Organizer:
Attached you’ll find a PDF document to help you in the design task. Print it out, find some inspiration and drop it at the school’s office by May the 9th or before.
