Dear Parents –
We are delighted to invite you to the following gatherings on Wednesday, February 9th:
Curriculum Overview (6-7pm) – Math at Equinox
We are very excited to have added yet another new element to our school council evenings. This Wednesday, before our official School Council meeting, Deb Adelman will share with us the approach to Math at Equinox, touching on integrated learning projects for each grade. She has prepared a handout that parents can take home and think about. As this area of the curriculum is under development, the idea would be that parents can determine how they may be able to help support its development.
We have scheduled a full hour for this presentation to allow for discussion and questions as many parents have specifically indicated that our school’s approach to Math is of particular interest. Here’s your chance to gain insight into how your kids will learn Math and how you can contribute your support to the development of this curriculum area!!
School Council Meeting (7-9pm)
Please accept my apologies for the delay in getting our agenda out to you. Our goal remains getting our agenda to you one week before the meeting date. Thank you for your continued patience.
Attached you will find the following documents:
1) Summary Agenda – outlining the agenda items that we will be addressing during the meeting
2) Detailed Agenda – which includes the key points for each agenda item AND committee update reports prepared by our committee chairs highlighting what they have been working on, where they are at in the process of their committee’s work.
Note: it is important that you review these updates on your own as we will not be reviewing them during the meeting. Instead, we will focus our time on specific committee requests for resources or support required to achieve their goals.
3) Minutes from the November 23 2010 School Council Meeting
4) Minutes from the May 26, 2010 School Council Meeting (whose distribution in advance of our last meeting was inadvertently missed)
We will continue with the Open Forum in the latter part of the meeting during which we hope to:
– capture and address questions that remain when we need to move on from a topic due to time and
– allow for new topics not on the agenda to be raised by those attending the meeting
We are meeting as usual in the Library and there will be coffee, tea and treats so don’t forget to Bring Your Own Mug!
Childcare
Because we have to ensure the proper ratios of caregivers to children, we need you to pre-register your request for childcare.
If you require childcare, please email Angela Nikolakakos at angela.3840@yahoo.com by Tuesday Feb 8th @ 8pm with the names and ages of your children to reserve your child(ren)’s spot(s).
As with everything we do, we welcome your feedback and suggestions regarding our evolving approach to our School Council evenings.
