Equinox is a Toronto District School Board alternative school and as such is open to anyone residing in Toronto. Junior Kindergarten (JK) admission is based on a lottery process, and you can apply the year your child will be starting (child turns 4 that year). We will start taking JK applications for the 2014-2015 school year after our Open House on Thursday, January 23, 2014, 6pm. The application deadline is Friday, February 14th, and the lottery held soon after that. All applicants will be called with either an offer of a spot, or their number on the wait list before the end of March.
For all other grades you can apply anytime and you will get added to the current wait list for your child’s grade, see attached application form. The sooner you apply, the closer you are to the front of the wait list. Only those applicants who call back in January of each year are moved forward to the next year’s wait list, so please mark your calendar if you think you’ll still be interested in future years.
The wait list varies from year to year, but just to give you an idea, the JK wait list this year (those who did not get in during the lottery process) is 32 females and 19 males. Each grade has its own wait list.
Equinox is not able to accommodate visit requests at this time. We receive a large number of requests to tour and observe the school but to maintain the integrity of the program and the privacy of our students we have had to limit the number. Most questions will be answered at the Open House, or you will have the opportunity to talk to a staff member at that time.
